When Sport and Culture collide...great things happen

Sport and culture combined on the 23rd of October 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the most amazing game of cricket - witnessed live by 90,000 and by millions globally.

Like life, it was a battle - joy, hardship, bad luck, good luck, tenacity, strength and resilience. We saw one of the greatest cricketer's in Virat Kohli grind against the odds to manufacture with his team a brilliant victory. It highlighted that perseverance, patience and belief in yourself conquers all.

As the great Nelson Mandela said “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”. Virat Kohli proved yesterday that his rising was well and truly complete after unfairly being the victim of abuse, harassment and hate from those that clearly did not know him.

Congratulations to ICC T20 World Cup Australia for having the foresight to put this game on at one of the greatest stadiums in the world. The values of equality, diversity and inclusion were in full vision last night.

Sport shows us some beautiful metaphors and lessons for life. During this important festival of Diwali may we dispel the darkness and journey towards health, peace and harmony.
